Embracing the philosophy that change is good, Mary Joan has been a chameleon in the communications world: beat reporter, photographer, corporate communications manager, Web master, marketing director, content developer. The combined experience is a catalyst in bringing client projects to life on time and within budget. Mary Joan has worked in the news, telecommunications, financial services and health industries.
Her accomplishments include:
- Producer for the award-winning National Cancer Institute’s animated, interactive video series “Cancer Risk Reduction Through Dietary Intervention”
- Producer for the award-winning public service announcement “Eco Kenny – How to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint”
- Designing, writing & compiling content for Internet, Intranet & Extranet web sites
- Developing communications strategy plans for internal communications
- Initiating and managing the marketing communications function for the internal pharmacies of a hospital
- Managing the production of million dollar mortgage securities from conception to distribution for GMACM-RFC
Mary Joan has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Temple University, Philadelphia, and a certificate in integrated marketing from the University of Chicago. Additionally, she has studied multimedia at the University of Chicago and Loyola University, Chicago. Mary Joan serves on the Robert Morris College Institute of Art & Design Advisory Board, and The Illinois Institute of Art Professional Advisory Committee. She teaches a class at IIA for students on preparing for job interviews, finding jobs and starting them. She hosts the online TV show “SOHO Today: Tips, Tricks and Tools for Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs.”
